Accelerate Weight Loss With Green Tea
What is Green Tea?
Green tea is a signature staple for many as well as having tons of healthy beneficial uses for centuries. Green, black, oolong and white tea are made from the carnellia sinensis plant. However, the tea leaves for green tea are steamed rather than fermented like black and oolong teas. This prevents a powerful anti-oxidant, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), from being oxidized and therefore diminished.
Antioxidant Properties
Green tea has positive effects for all who drink it due to the antioxidant properties found in it. High amounts of catechin polyphenols, particularly EGCG, are present in green tea. The EGCG in green tea is a powerful tool towards lowering cholesterol, inhibiting blood clots and negating the effect of a fatty diet. It is also reported that EGCG is used to treat diabetes and to have glucose-lowering effects. In addition, glucose can cause a person to feel hunger and by controlling insulin levels, you control appetite. Try drinking a cup of green tea at the first hunger pain and you are well on your way to managing your appetite.
How Does Green Tea Burn Fat?
Green tea burns fat through a process called thermogenesis. Thermogenesis means heat generation. Green tea is said to increases the process of thermogenesis in the body. This tea is a potent appetite suppressant and increases fat oxidation, which helps the body to use fat as an energy source. Basically the body is burning fat instead of burning protein. Pretty neat, huh?
Green tea also raises the body’s metabolism. By having a “fast metabolism” this means the body has increased the rate at which calories are burned.
Along with its thermogenesis properties, green tea gives you a boost of energy with no added crash (in comparison to coffee). This makes green tea a perfect breakfast tea or mid-afternoon “pick me up”.
